Celebrity Cruise Line: From Small to Huge

The Celebrity Cruise Line, which began as a small business, has now expanded its operations to launch a new era of large ships with higher passenger capacities. It was hardly expected that Celebrity Cruise Line would be able to expand just by adding Millennium-class ships, so the company also enhanced its value by constantly improving on its quality of service. This had led to greater satisfaction among diehard Celebrity travelers.

By the time 2008 and 2009 come around, Celebrity Cruise Line will have added even more tonnage to its fleet of ships in the form of the Celebrity Solstice and the Celebrity Equinox. With these additions, the rule of thumb that a premium-class cruise line should keep the size of its ships small will have undergone a sea change, as these newest ships will be about 30 percent bigger than their sisters. But a major drawback is that they will be unable to transit the Panama Canal and thus will not sail between the Caribbean and Alaska, two popular routes.

Once aboard any of the Celebrity Cruise Line ships one will be met with an enthusiastic blending of the innovative with the classic that may be noticed in the decor, which is both contemporary and traditional. As for the culinary experience, that owes itself to the creations of Michel Roux, the Michelin-starred owner of Waterside in London. In addition to these enhanced features, there have also been some other changes made such as the introduction of the Concierge Class, which transforms the old premium ocean view staterooms by adding a number of extras.

Greener Ships

On board the Celebrity Cruise Line Millennium-class ships one encounters the largest spas at sea, path-blazing outdoor glass elevators as well as a cutting-edge gas propulsion system that does not pollute the environment. However, the cabins and suites are still standard fare despite some improvements having been made such as adding terry cloth robes and in-room service straight off the dining room menu.

As for itineraries, Celebrity Cruise Lines do not offer around-the-world cruises and there boasts fewer truly exotic destinations than competing lines, although it serves year-round ports in Europe, Canada, Bermuda, Alaska, the Panama Canal, the Caribbean, Hawaii, the Mexican Riviera, and South America. In general, passengers who frequent Celebrity Cruise Lines range from baby boomers and their families to the elderly and also honeymooners, and are comprised of nationalities from around the world, not just North America.
